The Serras is the new comer to the design hotels in Barcelona. Location-wise, it is a perfect starting point to explore Barcelona, with the beach, museums and galleries walking distance away.
To add some spice, the building used to be Picasso's first studio. Now it was transformed into a stylish, modern, intimate 5-star hotel designed by renowned designer Eva Martínez.
For a newly built hotel, the design is relatively sombre. Its cool-tone and layers of mirror in bathroom contrast with crushed velvet in ochre and grey in the common areas, creating a modern elitism vibe. You can find traditional Barcelona tiling on the over-sized headboards, a subtle tribute to the city's history.
The hotel service is spot-on. The manager on duty showed us around the building and told us the story behind. Plus, the hand-written note and snack board in room was the sweetest touch.

We also had a lunch at the Serra's restaurant Informal. This Catalan restaurant is managed by Michelin Star Chef Marc Gascons who sourced products from local land and sea.
