I grew up in a hot and humid city, and Singapore constantly reminds me of those early summer days when I can smell the grass and ground in the air. Although some people say it's too small, for me it's just about right. Living in a shophouse, I am surrounded by juicy, vivid greens every day, feeling the blooming energy of life. Except for the non-stop April shower, I really have no complaint.

My landlord renovated the entirely shophouse and revamped everything in a minimal style. We had the luxury of an empty space with absolutely nothing but a chair. Every morning, the sunshine cuts through the window lattice and turns the space into a tranquil light box. I can see myself having a tea there and finishing the long overdue novel. Yet it never happened as I overslept almost every weekend.

Even though there are no "real" beaches, Sentosa is a nice place for staycation. When I was still a student, at least once a month, we used to get away from the city and day drinking at Tanjong Beach Club till sunset. Now I prefer to walk the dog along the beach and watch people play volleyball. But first, I need to get a dog. #2017plan
