It seems that everyone in New York likes La Colombe. We are no exception.
Among the three La Colombe locations, the Noho store is the most spacious one in New York that has actual seating and beautiful tall ceilings. Its friendly barista, woody decor and quaint dishes create a relaxing and hipsterish vibe. The line is usually long yet moving quite fast around the bar. Plus, you can take the waiting time to watch how barista is making the coffee.
It’s a perfect place to meet up with friends and chat, or just to rest your feet and chill in this nice neighborhood.
The order system could be a bit confusing as the menu is on a wooden block near the front of the line and could be easily missed. But it’s not a problem as long as you order the usual types of coffee, as they have a very typical expresso menu. (Except that they offer the fancy sparkling water and hemp milk)
Their regular brew is on the smokey end, which may be coming from the dark roast of La Colombe. Some people may love it, but we are not big fans.
We do love their cortado and cappuccino, which are heavenly smooth and balance very well with the expresso for the rich and bittersweet taste. And their pastry cannot be missed. We had the almond croissant, which is heart-melting and probably one of the best we tried.
An extra credit is that their beans are fair trade!
